\n\tThe Fernand L\u00e9ger ! <\/em>exhibition, with an international profile,\u00a0brings together\u00a0more than 30 works by Fernand L\u00e9ger<\/strong>\u00a0(Argentan 1881 – Gif-sur-Yvette 1955), pioneer of contemporary art, in close comparison with\u00a0European and American avant-garde artists<\/strong>\u00a0active from the 1960s to the present day.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe project aims to illustrate the\u00a0contemporaneity<\/strong>,\u00a0multidisciplinarity\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0visionary scope\u00a0<\/strong>of Fernand L\u00e9ger\u2019s work.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe exhibition path thus highlights the\u00a0strong historical and artistic<\/strong> link\u00a0between L\u00e9ger\u2019s work and\u00a0the French art scene of the 1960s, in particular with the group of the\u00a0New Realists<\/strong>\u00a0who take possession of consumer society\u2019s everyday objects and street aesthetics. The movement brings together artists such as Arman, C\u00e9sar, Raymond Hains, Yves Klein, Martial Raysse, Daniel Spoerri\u00a0and Niki de Saint Phalle.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther periods and international movements like\u00a0American Pop Art<\/strong>\u00a0with Robert Indiana and May Wilson, as well as emerging artists in the 1970s and 1980s such as\u00a0Gilbert & George<\/strong>\u00a0in London and\u00a0Keith Haring<\/strong>\u00a0in New York are on display in the exhibition path in dialogue with L\u00e9ger\u2019s work.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe exhibition, based mainly on the collections of the\u00a0Fernand L\u00e9ger National Museum<\/strong>\u00a0in Biot and the\u00a0Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art<\/strong>\u00a0(MAMAC) in Nice, to which are added important loans from Centre Pompidou<\/strong>\u00a0in Paris, is curated by:<\/p>\n

\n\tAnne Dopffer<\/strong>, Director of the\u00a0National Museums of the 20th Century in the Alpes-Maritimes<\/em> –\u00a0General Curator –\u00a0and\u00a0Julie Guttierez<\/strong>, Head Curator of Heritage\u00a0Fernand L\u00e9ger National Museum<\/em>\u00a0in Biot, and\u00a0R\u00e9becca Fran\u00e7ois<\/strong>, Heritage Conservation Officer\u00a0Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art <\/em>in Nice\u00a0(MAMAC) – Associate curators.<\/p>\n
